     Old Hill Children's Day School is a small, privately owned, early childhood center based in Westport, Connecticut.   Founded specifically to meet the unique needs and expectations of the children and families of Westport and surrounding Fairfield County towns, Old Hill is not a franchise or a "big box" daycare business.  We offer quality educational programs for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age and have the flexibility to cater to the individual needs of most families and children.

     

Discrete, Private Location

     Set far from the road, our facility has been providing families with a homey, intimate atmosphere for their children for over twenty years.   A fully renovated former residence, Old Hill is a discrete facility which doesn't display signs identifying it as a school.  Our tree shaded playgrounds are located in the rear of the property and are completely fenced and hidden from passersby.   We are located less than one mile from the Westport Police Department and EMS Headquarters and less than two miles from the Westport Fire Department.

 

Child Centered, Quality Curriculum & Activities

     Old Hill's programs are fun and offer numerous and diverse opportunities for children to grow and develop through play and contextual, hands-on learning experiences.  Our environment is designed to encourage exploration so children engage in a multitude of exciting activities that help them reach important developmental milestones.

     Old Hill's curriculum and programs focus on the "whole child" and are based on the high standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the State of Connecticut Department of Early Childhood and the Infant/Toddler and Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS).  Our preschool teachers also regularly organize activities designed to help children develop important 21st Century Skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, cooperation and problem solving.  Visit the "Old Hill in Action" Album in the Photos folder on Facebook  to see children and teachers engaged in our fun, educational activities!

     Old Hill's teachers are chosen not only for their skills in implementing  effective and developmentally appropriate curriculum but for their ability to provide the highest quality care and nurturing to our children.   With degrees or certifications in education, early childhood or related fields, our head teachers are well qualified and dedicated to their roles.  Our teachers and staff strive to accommodate the needs of parents as well.  

 

Kindergarten Readiness

     Old Hill's Director and preschool teachers correspond and meet with local public school districts regularly to ensure our programs are in line with kindergarten readiness standards.  As a result, Old Hill children are well prepared to meet and even exceed the expectations of their respective kindergartens when they graduate and move on from our wonderful school.
